I guess this is a bit of a personal rant, but after working at a coffee shop and being an avid fan of all things coffee for 10+ years, I have always been confused by people who order decaf coffee from coffee shops. Coffee shops charge a ridiculous amount of money for coffee, so why do people waste money on a coffee without any kick that you could make at home? Do you know what coffee shop employees go through to make that cup of decaf for you?!

You see, at certain corporate coffee shops, decaf is only served until noon. After that, only two coffee pots are brewing at a time to keep up with the demand for regular old coffee. When people come in and request decaf after noon, it causes a big hoopla. Why? Because said corporate coffee shop doesn’t continuously brew it through the day (because they are too cheap.) Instead, employees have to do what’s called a pour-over.

What is a pour-over? I’m glad you asked. It is a nightmarish way of making coffee in which the employee sets up a single filter in a plastic contraption with your coffee cup underneath. Then, said employee has to fill a tin up with boiling hot water to slowly pour over the coffee grinds that drip out into your cup of handmade, 5 minute decaf coffee.

Why does this suck? Well, the number of burns caused by pour-overs is probably higher than burns on fryers at McDonalds. I just made up those statistics, but you get the point. I personally burnt myself at least once per month doing pour-overs – and I only worked there part-time.

And just so you know, this is a big corporate coffee chain I’m talking about. You have one in your town. Everyone does.

I guess what I’m saying is why bother getting decaf when you could just make it at home? Especially at the end of the day when you’re not rushing off to work. If you really must order that decaf, at least ask those corporate coffee shops to please brew decaf all day and not just in the morning. Do it for the employee risking his/her hand making your coffee.

Coffee drink is a drink derived from the seeds of plants are called coffee, to make it the coffee beans must be roasted and then puree. Coffee is one of the most popular beverage in the world, if the ranking is based on the level of consumption, coffee is getting second ranked after water, about two million people drink coffee every day. maybe you have the name of arabica coffee, java coffee, etc., these are the kinds of varieties of coffee that had been found intentionally or unintentionally.

Indonesia also have coffee varieties. Known as a Sumatran coffee, Sulawesi coffee and Luwak coffee. Sumatran coffee and Sulawesi coffee would have been able to predict why how is called the Sumatran and Sulawesi, of course, because coffee is derived from the two regions. but what about Luwak coffee?

Luwak coffee is one of the most peculiar varieties of coffee in the world, Coffee is generally harvested first and then the seeds are picked when ripe, but the civet coffee are very different. coffee beans are left to fall, then the farmers releasing the animal mongoose or weasel kind, and let it eat civet civet coffee beans that fell before, and then they wait for the animal mongoose or ferret that remove dirt, coffee beans that came out concurrent with civet or civet droppings that will processed again to drink coffee, which is called the Kopi Luwak (Civet Coffee).

Researchers in Canada have shown that the protein content present in the stomach civet coffee made more perfect ferment and mature. so the resulting flavor is more delicious than other coffees. So in short terms civet coffee is one type of coffee that comes from coffee beans that have been eaten by Luwak or animal mongoose and a type of civet coffee beans was issued again in conjunction with the civet droppings. It seems so disgusting, imagine that civet coffee is coffee that came out concurrent with the civet droppings … but although it seems very disgusting this coffee is very delicious. Civet coffee has entered into the list of names of the most enjoyable coffee and sought after, the coffee comes from Indonesia has also been renowned throughout the world. In the world market price of Luwak Coffee is about $ 50 U.S. a cup

About the Espresso

An espresso is a beverage that is concentrated and brewed in the form of boiling water being forced and pressurized through finely ground beans of coffee. Known of and consumed in all areas of the world, the espresso is a popular coffee drink with a real kick. The drink in itself is a very small quantity but provides a high caffeine quantity with a rich flavor and aroma.

Many different factors will make a difference to the end result and taste of an espresso shot. This is because there are an assortment of coffee beans that can be used to create an espresso, and depending on the origin and quality of the coffee bean, the espresso will have a contrasting taste. The pressure of the water also affects the end product.

What is the Best Way to Drink Espresso?

The majority of espresso drinkers will consume the beverage in the mornings, to provide a bound of energy for the day. The best way to drink an espresso shot is to do so fast. This is because the espresso will extract shortly after it is produced. Drinking an espresso like a shot is rather shocking but provides an intriguing twist of flavors.

In the last few weeks, or rather the last few months, I have gradually but suddenly drifted from casual tea drinker to a haunter of coffee joints. The whole experience was fueled by a female friend of mine who felt coffee shops were the perfect setting for us to get to know each other.

From the deep black of Gloria Jeans Coffee to the roasted aromas of Quigleys Coffee, I have drank deep from the oft-criticized but little understood sub-culture of the coffee shop. Every day I sink into the seats and watch people pass, and rarely do I see a hipster or a writer or those pretentious children we often hear about. The coffee store has served me as a perfect environment for conversation, with attention being easily paid with the help of heavy doses of caffeine. As much as I would like to shatter the stereotypes, the stores which I frequent do seem to be littered with those heavy in important talks and ideas.

It is good company, comforting to know that everyone around you is so absorbed in their own ideas that they pay no mind to what they may overhear of yours. I had always loved the idea of the coffee drinkers of the black and white era, jaded characters who would write amongst plumes of smoke and sip on Americano. So what do I have to say of this caffeine culture? It’s easy to disappear here.

Coffee lovers and dessert lovers, gather round now! As I, the coffee seeker, found a coffee recipe specially for you guys!

Okayyy.. enough with that., lets get to the recipe now, shall we?

This recipe is tried and tested. I am not that of a coffee lover but i really like this one. I bumped into this recipe on the net, thanks to Sean Paajen! Hope he doesn’t mind me sharing this to you guys, but to be fair CLICK HERE to see more of his recipe posts.

Black Forest Coffee

Ingredients:

6 oz hot coffee
2 tbs chocolate syrup
1 tbs maraschino cherry juice
Whipped cream
Chocolate shavings
Maraschino cherries

Preparation:

In a mug, mix coffee, syrup and cherry juice. Stir well then top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings and cherries.
Serves 1

Since I am a dessert lover, I was kind of curious how this coffee mix would taste so I tried it,and God! Do I love it?? Really, not still obvious?

For some, you might find this too sweet, so, just obey your tastebuds.

For a very nice presentation, put the coffee into a very nice coffee mug, top with whipped cream, sprinkle the shaved chocolate and top with cherry, it will look like a black forest cake on a cup!

Enjoy!

Aside from the standard pots and pans, and the clear enema bag and tube, you’ll additionally require a origin of filtered water (rather than chlorinated water, which will kill but not the slightest; you’ll certainly require a amount of organic, completely caffeinated coffee.

One of the best features of the 21st century coffee house is the free wireless internet offered to customers. This allows for people to enjoy their coffee and or pastry and get some work or recreational web browsing done. This perk, much like any freebie, is abused by few and thus we all suffer. There are those that go into a coffee shop, purchase a cup of coffee and sit there for hours, sometimes even an entire day, just using the free wifi offered to customers. This not only is abuse of the service but it more often than not takes away business from the coffee house by making a business seem busier than it actually is. When walking by a coffee house and seeing hoards of people, one is usually not encouraged to go in, and if they do, they are disappointed to find nowhere to sit and enjoy their purchase.
It is a shame but it seems free is all to often abused by our society. Some coffee houses remedy this by limiting wifi usage to an hour, which is an excellent way to fix the problem, but sadly this has led to less business for some shops, a real shame.

I don’t drink coffee much these days instead I drink tea, but for those who do; here’s a couple of ways to enhance your coffee to suit your taste buds if they’re looking for a change.

- Add chocolate syrup if you want that chocolaty flavor.
- Add vanilla ice cream or any kind of ice cream.
- Add Chai to add a little sweet and spice to your coffee.
- Add soybeans in your coffee blend to make it healthier.
- Add half and Half if you don’t want a dry cream or milk.
- Add mint for a refreshing and invigorating taste.
- Add coconut milk for an creamy and relaxing flavor.

You walk into your favorite coffee shop, find a good spot, mark your temporary territory with a book or an invaluable belonging, walk over to the counter, and look up the menu. You’re thinking of what to order, when a familiar voice cuts in, “Hi (name)! Let me guess. Non-fat white chocolate mocha, no whipped cream, and chocolate eclair?” It’s the barista, naming your usual order which you’ve been getting for the past how many weeks.

On the one hand, it’s flattering that he or she actually remembers your name, your usual order, and even correctly associated it with your face. On the other, it’s a bit presumptuous. What makes him or her think that you don’t have enough sense of adventure to try out something new right now? Do you look like the kind of person who can’t help but stick to his boring old routine? Non-fat? Aren’t you looking more fit today, so that you deserve a calorie-laden frappuccino with double servings of whipped cream?

Next situation. You’re in the mood for a quiet, relaxing day. What could be a better setting than your neighborhood cafe, with that steady buzz of coffee brewing, the subdued chatter that blends into white noise, and the soft jazzy music playing in the background? You settle into a comfy chair, open your chosen feel-good book or magazine, and then suddenly, that familiar voice again asks you, “Hey (name)! How are you doing?” You smile politely and say you’re fine, thank you very much. You’re about to go back to your book when it cuts in again. “Oh, you’re not working today? Are you on leave?” Again, it’s flattering that he or she remembers you, and some things about your life which you probably shared bit by bit through your frequent visits. But isn’t it obvious that you just want to enjoy some quiet alone time? And, it’s not like you’re old buddies.

Do baristas annoy you?

Through the years, Starbucks has established itself not only as a place where you can get great-tasting and caffeine-loaded coffee, but also as the perfect venue for finding comfort food. Their desserts have been raved about my many.

One of my favorite desserts from this coffee shop is their Banoffee Pie. It’s served in a small, thin aluminum container, like a baby pie pan. And this little container is full of delicious banoffee goodness. Sliced bananas, cream, toffee, and crust – it’s comfort in a little pan.

Another dessert that I like is their honey-glazed donut. Fine, it’s not technically a dessert, but it’s a treat to my sweet tooth. It’s soft and not too sweet. It’s just right – and so is its price. I think it’s the cheapest item in their display counter.

My friends also like their Mango Madness and Oreo Cheesecake.

If you suddenly find yourself craving for something sweet with your cup of coffee, proceed to your nearest Starbucks.
