How Do You Like Your Mocha?
I would just like to take a moment with this blog and say thank you to the mocha. There is nothing better than chocolate mixed with coffee in order to get a complete boost of the day. More than being the best coffee drink out there, it actually has a long history that has allowed for it’s perfection to come.
The mocha drink actually began to be a popular drink in the 1400s. However, it wasn’t just a drink, it was also a type of bean that was grown in the town of Mocha, Yemen, which is an Arabic town by the red sea. This coffee bean was known for it’s strong flavor and brew which had a chocolate type flavor to it. Yes, the perfection of chocolate and coffee do grow together.
In the next couple of centuries, trade began to open up between different countries, in which the mocha drink migrated it’s way up to Europe. However, the combination pack of beans and chocolate was not really available all of the time. With this exchange, Europeans began to experiment with their own drink by mixing cocoa beans in with the regular coffee beans, thus creating the true mocha that we know today. While they sometimes still used the Mocha beans, substitutes and additional flavors became a part of the mix.
Today, the mocha should be rated as the best drink anywhere. It’s combination of sweets and coffee, as well as the additional whip creams and fresh milk definitely rate it as the best drink ever to become a part of coffee world.
