New daily coffee at Starbucks – Pikes Place Blend
Some people (me included) cannot get enough of the Sumatra coffee from Starbucks. My family goes through a pound a week, and the one time we ran out and had to use the “backup” coffee we made it double strength…and it still tasted like hot flavored water. Ick!
But many people feel that the standard Sumatra blend of Starbucks coffee is just too potent for a morning fix. I see people who normally use a dab of milk and a little sugar take a grande Starbucks Sumatra and put a half cup of milk and enough sugar to put a diabetic into a coma.
For you delicate coffee types Starbucks has listened and responded with the new Pikes Place Blend. A smoother, less biting blend that is supposed to make your morning cup more of a wake-up call and less of a slap in the face.
When I first ordered coffee from Starbucks after the switch, knowing I was going to get the Pikes Place Blend, I was scared. Was Starbucks going to give me hot, bland, coffee-water? Would it taste like the double-strength backup coffee I keep in my freezer for emergencies?
I was pleasantly surprised. The Pikes Place blend is mellower than Sumatra, but still a very tasty. Pikes Place Blend is far more enjoyable than supermarket coffee that tastes watery and weak.
So, even as a Starbucks “strong coffee” fan I have to say this is a really good coffee blend. For your morning commute the Pikes Place Blend will help you get to work refreshed, awake, and without that bitter aftertaste I’ve heard so many coffee drinkers complain about with the standard Sumatra blend.
