Reduced plasma levels

Reduced plasma levels.

The consumption of coffee might reduce levels of uric acid and preventing gout, according to a study by the University of British Columbia in Vancouver (Canada).

The results of the study, which is published in the journal “Arthritis Care & Research”, suggest that this benefit is due to coffee components other than caffeine.

The authors examined the relationship between coffee, tea, caffeine and levels of uric acid and discovered that coffee consumption is associated with lower levels of uric acid. In spite of that, these effects seem to come from different components to caffeine . Such levels decreased significantly with increasing consumption of coffee but not with the consumption of tea.

In addition, there is no association between caffeine consumption from all beverages and the levels of uric acid.
